In days past, when the elves of the surface first forced their accursed kin down under the earth, the elves that would go on to become the dralfar were a scattered and lost people. Though some rebuilt, forging glittering onyx realms beneath the surface, others descended into despair and barbarism.
These isolated tribes of elves – cut off from the light of the sun, mired in self-loathing, and bombarded by mutating energies that emanate from the darkest depths of the earth – gradually became unrecognisable. Descending into cannibalism and the worship of misshapen, half-imagined demon gods, they gradually transformed into a species of pale, eyeless horrors.
